Tomorrow at 7:30AM is Alexander's surgery. This morning, a cyber-aquaintance -- a beautiful Christian wife and mother whose blog I follow -- offered me the following prayer, which is one of the most beautiful I have ever prayed. I post it here in hopes that others will join with me in prayer for Alex as he heads into the hospital before dawn tomorrow:
Lord Jesus,
We lift little Alexander up to you. Please strengthen his body in preparation for the surgery. Guide the hands of the surgeons, the nurses, the anesthesiologists and everyone involved in his care and recovery. I pray that the surgery would be successful and that his recovery would be uneventful. Be with his parents and relatives and give them a peace that surpasses all understanding that will guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus during this time.
If there is any reason why he should not have the surgery at this time I pray that it would be postponed. If there is anyone who should not be on the team of caregivers for him, I pray that you would have them moved elsewhere. Likewise, if there is a different doctor, nurse or caregiver who should be on the team, we pray that you would bring them in!
Thank you for this life. Bless him that he may live a life that glorifies you from babyhood onward.
In your powerful name,
Amen!
